City of Tuscola City Council met Oct. 14.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order with Brace, Day, Hoey (remote), Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop, and Mayor Kleiss in attendance. Deputy Clerk, Heather Tolan acted as City Clerk in the absence of Clerk Leamon. Mayor Kleiss led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Consent Agenda
Mayor Kleiss went over the items on the consent agenda:
• Minutes of the September 22, 2025, meeting
• Financial Report: None
• Payment of bills totaling $404,555.52
• Change Order for Pool House Renovation- $9,806
• Pay request from AKRA Builders for Pool House Renovation- $45,888.30
• Trick or Treat Hours 5:30pm-7:30pm October 31, 2025
• Turkey Trot 5K Run and Route Thursday, November 27, 2025
Shoemaker moved to approve the items on the consent agenda. Morris seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop. Alderman Hoey abstained. Motion Carried. Rund moved to approve the consent agenda for October 14, 2025. Brace seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop. Alderman Hoey abstained. Motion Carried.
Requested Time on the Agenda
• Adam Munds with RC Fest was present to speak about the success of the event in 2025. He also stated they will not be holding this event going forward. He wanted to give his thanks to the City Council for all of the support Tuscola has shown them with the event this year, as well as in past years.
Mayor
• Offered condolences to Treasurer Long on the passing of her Father-in-Law, Roger Long. Also noted that his wife, Wanda, retired from the City after many years here.
• Gave an update on the pool house renovations and stated that the project is on schedule.
• Discussed the vandalism happening at Ervin Park.

City Administrator
• Noted the contractor for the Meadowview Project was out grading and reseeding today.
Contracts and Agreements
Slaughter moved to approve the waiving of formal bidding for the Center Pivot Irrigator Replacement. Waldrop seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop. Alderman Hoey abstained. Motion Carried.
Rund moved to approve the proposal from Sunrise FS Valley Irrigation for the Center Pivot Irrigator Replacement in the amount of $123,916.77. Slaughter seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop. Alderman Hoey abstained. Motion Carried.
The motion to adjourn was made by Day and seconded by Morris. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop. Alderman Hoey abstained. Motion Carried.
