Dolson Township officials in Clark County, Illinois, have not responded to requests for information related to allegations of financial wrongdoing. According to Kirk Allen of Edgar County Watchdogs, initial attempts to contact the township supervisor for an official email address resulted in a series of text messages that did not yield any contact details. The exchange included questions from the supervisor about Allen's involvement with the township and whether he was part of the watchdog group.
Allen stated, "Edgar County Watchdogs. Need email to communicate with the Township."
Despite confirming that messages were read shortly after being sent on September 3, 2025, follow-up requests for an email address and later a mailing address were met with no response. Allen believes his number may have been blocked by the supervisor after subsequent messages went unread.
After obtaining Dolson Township’s mailing address from the county clerk’s office, Allen sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request addressed to both Supervisor Tom Grable and Clerk Kim Grable. The request was delivered on September 24, 2025. No response was received within the required timeframe.
Allen followed up via text: “Ignoring me does not help matters. Please provide the records requested and the meeting schedule.”
No reply has been received from township officials regarding these communications or FOIA requests.
The Edgar County Watchdogs are calling on Dolson Township residents to demand transparency from their elected officials and report any knowledge about upcoming township meetings. The organization notes that these information requests are particularly important due to allegations concerning missing funds within the township.
A request for review regarding the ignored FOIA request has been filed with the Illinois Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor (PAC). The outcome of this review is pending.
