Illinois Route 133 is scheduled for a significant refurbishment in 2026, covering the stretch from the Coles/Douglas County line west to Arcola. The $35 million project aims to improve safety and commuting conditions on this key roadway.
State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) commented on the initiative, stating, "I have spoken with many of my constituents who say the repairs are much needed and long overdue. I drive on 133 myself, and I’m excited to see upgrades being made to a high-traffic highway. I’ve been working to expand road construction projects in my District and use taxpayer dollars for community projects that benefit everyone."
The project is part of the Rebuild Illinois program and will address approximately twelve miles of roadway, including resurfacing, new shoulders, culverts, storm sewers, and utility improvements.
Miller further added, "It’s always a great day when tax dollars go back to communities in need instead of being wasted on pork projects. Next year, we are going to see additional improvements made to infrastructure in Oakland and I look forward to seeing the projects break ground."

Chris Miller was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 101st House District in 2023. He succeeded Reggie Phillips and serves areas including parts of Coles County as well as portions of Champaign, Douglas, and Vermilion Counties along the I-57 corridor.
