Arcola Community Unit School District 306 Finance Committee met Sept. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Tom Mulligan, Superintendent; Board Members: Lucas Shonkwiler, Sue Stout, and Jeremy Shonkwiler. Visitor – Kendall King

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.

The following items were discussed:

Working Cash Bonds – Kendall King from King Financial presented information to the finance committee regarding the possibility of selling working cash bonds to replace the working cash bonds that will be paid off this year. The district has used the funds from the working cash funds for upgrading the district’s technology infrastructure, technology equipment and online instructional tools. The district originally sold working cash bonds in 2020 and are now interested in selling bonds again to provide technology funding for the 2026-2027 school year through the 2030 – 2031 school year. The district has been able to do this without raising the district tax rate.

Mr. King presented some financial estimates and also discussed the timeline needed to move forward. If the board wants to move forward, they will need to approve a resolution of intent to sell the bonds at the October 8, 2025 board meeting and then pass a final resolution at the November 12, 2025 board meeting.

The finance committee meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm.
