During August and September 2025, Main Street School and Kindergarten Center focused on teaching students about self-control. This initiative was supported by Original Burger, which sponsored the program.

Teachers incorporated lessons about self-control into their classrooms using stories and discussions that related to both fictional characters and the students' own experiences. Staff members also made an effort to praise students when they demonstrated self-control in front of their peers. The praise was aimed at recognizing character traits and effort rather than simply results. For example, instead of saying "You are smart" or “I am proud of you for getting an A," teachers would say, "I was impressed with your work ethic and grit even when the math problem got difficult; you didn't give up" or "I noticed you allowed a peer to join your game and made them feel accepted."

The school's guiding principle is "BE NICE; WORK HARD."

Students were chosen as Self-Control Student-Leaders based on input from their peers and recommendations from teachers.

Ryan Scott, Principal at Main Street School & Kindergarten Center, said: "We are very proud to announce the August / September 2025 Main Street Self-Control Students."

Those recognized for demonstrating self-control included Brody Moscardelli, Everly Thompson, Cora Sharp, Axton Mays, Everly Gerber (front row); Jack Legg, Wylder Williams, Rose West, Cora Graves, Freyah Bly (middle row); Ethan Mowry (Original Burger), Ace Danneberger, Owen Donnel, Kyndall Agney, Keaton Gordon, Ryan Scott (Principal) (back row). Kindergarten honorees were Charlie Koontz, Sawyer Walker, Emery Storm, Emma Klepzig, Xena Washington.
