State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) has filed House Resolution 467, which calls for the impeachment of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. Niemerg cited a series of comments made by Governor Pritzker as the reason for this action, stating that the governor’s remarks have contributed to political division and violence.

The resolution outlines several instances where Governor Pritzker allegedly made inflammatory statements. It references a State of the State speech in February in which Pritzker reportedly compared Republicans to the Nazi party of Germany, saying: “The authoritarian playbook is laid bare here: They point to a group of people who don’t look like you and tell you to blame them for your problems. . . . If you think I’m overreacting and sounding the alarm too soon, consider this: It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic.”

In March, at an event in Los Angeles hosted by the Human Rights Campaign, Pritzker is quoted as saying about Republicans in Congress and the Trump Administration: “Bullies respond to one thing, and one thing only, a punch in the face.” He added: “And I won’t continue to advocate that we wage a conventional political fight when what we really need is to become street fighters.”

Another incident cited occurred in April during remarks in Manchester, New Hampshire. The governor reportedly said: “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption, but I am now. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.”

Niemerg commented on these statements: “Governor Pritzker’s remarks are providing legitimacy to radicals who are committing these heinous crimes against people like Charlie Kirk,” Niemerg said. “If it were one isolated incident – it would be one thing but there is a pattern here. His remarks are undignified and are disqualifying for the office of Governor. It is time to hold Governor Pritzker accountable for his actions.”

House Resolution 467 has been introduced and awaits assignment to a legislative committee. The full text can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/373xk2nt.

Niemerg was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 102nd House District in 2023 after replacing Darren Bailey.
