Clark County taxpayers ranked 62nd in total sales taxes paid per county in July, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, residents paid $281,267 in sales taxes during July.

The county ranked 63rd in the Prairie State the month before, with $284,587 spent in sales taxes.

The largest share of sales taxes paid by Clark County residents in July came from the Special County Retailers Occupation Tax.

The Special County Retailers Occupation Tax, a crucial revenue stream, is primarily allocated for county governments' use.
