City of Arcola City Council met Aug. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Henson, Moreno, Foran, Hensley and Helmuth. Alderman Budd was not present. City Administrator Wagoner and Treasurer Anderson were also present. Attorney Petty was not present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Henson led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT There was none.

APPROVAL OF JULY 21, 2025 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderwoman Helmuth led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF JULY 19, 2025 THROUGH AUGUST 01, 2025 BILLS Alderman Hensley moved to approve the July 19, 2025 – August 01, 2025 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Henson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JULY 2025 Alderman Moreno moved to approve the Treasurer’s report for July 2025 and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE JULY ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT The Zoning Officer reported 5 permits issued in the month of July with valuation of $90,300 and fees in amount of $241.40 collected. Alderman Foran moved to approve the July Zoning Officer’s report as presented and was seconded by Alderman Henson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 25-Z-3, AN ORDINANCE APPROVING VARIANCE FOR 225 E. JEFFERSON Alderman Hensley moved to approve Ordinance No. 25-Z-3 and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE PAY REQUEST NO. 5, MAIN STREET REDEVELOPMENT GRANT PROJECT – FULLER WENTE -- $108,854.36 Alderwoman Helmuth moved to approve Pay Request #5 Main Street Redevelopment Grant Project – Fuller Wente in amount of $108,854.36. Alderman Foran seconded the motion carried. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 25-R-6, ALLOCATION OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE DOWNTOWN PROJECT Alderman Henson moved to approve Resolution No. 25-R-6 and was seconded by Alderman Moreno. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

There were no committee reports.

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderman Hensley moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderwoman Helmuth. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
