Illinois State Representative Chris Miller attended the grand opening of the Lake Land College Effingham Technology Center. The event brought together community leaders and board members to mark the launch of a facility aimed at supporting education and workforce development in the region.

According to Miller, "I was honored to join community leaders and board members to celebrate the grand opening of Lake Land College Effingham Technology Center. This notable project will serve as the first-ever home for Creating Opportunities for Regional Employment (CORE), which provides classes for local high school students to build skills and explore future careers."

The new building consolidates all Lake Land operations previously located at the Kluthe Center. It will offer general education courses across various subjects, as well as full college programs in Nursing, Massage Therapy, and Physical Therapist Assistant. The facility also introduces an Innovation Center featuring a virtual reality lab, an augmented reality lab, and a makerspace lab.

Lake Land College officials highlighted that these additions are designed to enhance educational opportunities for both high school students and adult learners in Effingham County.

Miller has represented Illinois' 101st House District since 2023 after succeeding Reggie Phillips as state representative.
