Illinois Democrats approve record $55.2 billion state budget

On the last day of the Spring legislative session, Illinois Democrats approved a $55.2 billion state budget, marking the largest in the state's history. Governor Pritzker's tenure has seen a 38% increase in spending. State Representative Brad Halbrook expressed his opposition to the FY26 Budget, stating, "That is why I was a staunch NO on the FY26 Budget because Illinoisans need real and structural reforms."
