Adam Niemerg, representative for Illinois' 102nd State House District, expressed opposition to Governor J.B. Pritzker's re-election, citing concerns over the state's tax burden and rising crime rates.
"Spent BILLIONS on Illegals," said Adam M. Niemerg, State Representative for 102nd District (R). "Crime at all time HIGH. Highest tax burden in the country. That's not “forward!"
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced his re-election campaign in a video released on June 26. He emphasized Illinois' role in advocating for affordability, protecting freedoms, and implementing common-sense policies. Pritzker highlighted achievements such as seven consecutive balanced budgets, nine credit upgrades, an increased minimum wage, and capped insulin costs. He also mentioned protections for abortion rights and a ban on assault weapons. In his announcement, Pritzker said he would not allow President Trump to reverse the state's progress and encouraged people to support his vision for moving forward.

According to Niemerg’s post, which included a screenshot of an ABC7 News report on Pritzker’s announcement, the governor is seeking a third consecutive term—a feat last attempted by Jim Thompson from 1977 to 1991. ABC7 reported that Pritzker faces one known Republican challenger: James Mendrick, the current DuPage County sheriff.
NBC News analyzed Pritzker’s re-election bid within the context of potential presidential aspirations for 2028. The outlet noted that while securing a spot on the November 2026 ballot does not preclude him from running for president, it could pose challenges by raising questions about his commitment to serving a full four-year term as governor and potentially diverting Democratic support to another candidate.
Niemerg was elected in 2020 and describes himself as "a fiscal conservative focused on reducing taxes and fighting for limited government and pension reform to spur growth of business and jobs in his district and all of Illinois." He also identifies as pro-life and committed to protecting Second Amendment rights.
