State Representative Adam Niemerg, along with State Representatives Brad Halbrook and Blaine Wilhour, is organizing a free senior fair in Effingham. The event is scheduled for June 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the National Guard Armory located at 1206 W. Temple Ave.

"Not only will we have information from state agencies like Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, there will also be information on activities and services available through the Effingham Library, and some screenings by health care organizations," stated Rep. Niemerg.

The fair is designed for area seniors to access guides, literature, and resources from various state, county, and local senior service agencies.

"I have been working to bring this popular event back since the Covid restrictions were imposed five years ago," said Rep. Wilhour. "We have a nice variety of vendors this year that provide services and programs available to the seniors in our area. I encourage you to come out and bring a friend."

General Assembly members will be present to assist constituents with state government issues. Attendees are encouraged to sign in for a chance to win door prizes. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

"Representatives Niemerg, Wilhour, and I are pleased to reintroduce this event that provides so many connections to our seniors," commented Rep. Halbrook. "We understand the difficulty seniors may have with accessing these resources independently, so we wanted to provide an opportunity for them to learn about the resources out there and speak with professionals all at one place."

No RSVP or entrance fee is necessary for attendance. For questions, contact Rep. Niemerg at (217) 813-6036, Rep. Halbrook at (217) 342-0220, or Rep. Wilhour at (618) 665-4109.
