HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, originally established by the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis on November 15, 1875, recently celebrated a milestone in its 150th anniversary year. On March 20, 2025, the Women's and Infants Center welcomed its 150th baby of the year, Lucy Ann Feldhake, who was born to parents Kallee and Nick Feldhake of Dieterich, Illinois. She weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 20 inches long.
The hospital's Women and Infants Center staff commemorated the event by presenting the Feldhake family with a basket of gifts, including a special 150th-anniversary onesie. This gift is offered to all babies born at the hospital throughout 2025 as part of the anniversary celebrations.
HSHS St. Anthony’s has planned a series of events to mark its 150th anniversary. These include activities such as the Annual Walk to End Parkinson’s on May 3, a Wound Healing Center Open House on May 6, and a Women’s Health Showcase on October 16, among others. Specific dates for some events, like the Downtown Mural Unveiling and the Center for Pediatric Therapy Open House, will be announced later in the fall. Full event details can be accessed on the hospital's website.
In addition to hospital-hosted events, St. Anthony’s is also participating in several community events, extending its celebrations to include activities such as the Altamont Memorial Day Parade on May 26, the Dieterich Fourth of July Parade, and the Effingham Sunrise Rotary Halloween Parade on October 26.
