Village of Dieterich Board of Trustees met Jan. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Dieterich Village Board met in regular session on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at Dieterich Village Hall.

The meeting was called to order by President Brad Hardiek and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

The following Trustees were present: Matt Flowers; Carrie Galbraith; Pam Hartke; Bill Lane; Berdeena Leturno and Fred Bray. With President Brad Hardiek and six Trustees in attendance, a quorum was declared to be present. Also at the meeting were Clerk Brittny Gipson, Maintenance Supervisor Mike Campbell, Wright Family Center Director Traci Bruns, and Stacy Welter.

A motion was made by Trustee F. Bray; seconded by Trustee M. Flowers to approve the omnibus agenda: approve the minutes of the January 6, 2025 Regular Meeting. Roll call was 6 yes and 0 no.

Wright Family Center Director, Traci Bruns, reviewed her December monthly report on financials, facility usage, and memberships for the past month. There were a lot of gymnasium rentals during the month of December. She was happy with how busy the facility was during Christmas break and people buying day passes. There have been several maintenance issues she has been dealing with over the last two months.

Condensation drips continue to worsen in the gymnasium from the ceiling vents as the temperatures continue to drop outside and the south gymnasium HVAC unit is down. She reported the humidifier has been repaired and the ground fault was finally located and repaired, so the ground fault alarm has stopped continuously going off. Traci is working with AKRA, DHM, and Farnsworth to figure out a solution to the dripping vents in the gymnasium and to repair the HVAC unit.

Maintenance Supervisor Mike Campbell reported the lagoon brush cleaning should start next week. Mike has been in contact with adjacent property owners to make them aware of the work. Mike also discussed the creek bank clearing project with Woody Heuerman and areas of the creek to focus on.

Mike reported on the utility trailer research. He recommended the 7’x16’ aluminum trailer from Ruholl Trailers. They will also work with us on our old trailer for trade-in.

A motion was made by Trustee F. Bray; seconded by Trustee B. Lane to approve the purchase of a new 7’ x 16’ aluminum utility trailer from Ruholl Trailers for $6,995 minus the trade-in value of our old utility trailer. Roll call was 6 yes and 0 no.

Mike reported on his discussions and information from IDOT and Ameren regarding the possibility of getting additional street lighting along Rt. 33 and at the Dollar Geneal entrance. As of now, this will be a very expensive project for the Village, but Mike is continuing to research to get an accurate price for the project.

A motion was made by Trustee B. Lane; seconded by P. Hartke to approve Resolution 661-2025: Approving Final Plat for Recording Dieterich Industrial Park East, First Addition (EJ Water Cooperative, Inc.). Roll call was 6 yes and 0 no.

A motion was made by Trustee M. Flowers; seconded by Trustee C. Galbraith to approve Ordinance 1185-2025: Authorizing Partial Release of Public Utility Easements (EJ Water Cooperative, Inc.). Roll call was 6 yes and 0 no.

A motion was made by Trustee P. Hartke; seconded by Trustee B. Lane to approve hiring Connie Faught for the contract mowing of the Dieterich Cemetery for $325 per mowing for the 2025 mowing season. Roll call was 6 yes and 0 no.

During the comments portion of the meeting, Clerk Gipson reported the 2025 annual non-highway vehicle stickers were now available for those residents who have non highway vehicles. To legally drive a non-highway vehicle on Village streets, you must have your vehicle registered with the Village and pay $50 for the sticker.

At 7:32 p.m. a motion was made by Trustee P. Hartke; seconded by Trustee B. Lane to adjourn the meeting. Roll call was 6 yes and 0 no.
