FOIA Request to Crawford County Il Clerk Election Division Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for records pertaining to the upcoming election.
The requested information includes a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The specifics of our request encompass the candidate's first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.
In addition to these details, we have also asked for all contact information for each candidate. This encompasses their address, phone number, and email address.
Our role as a media outlet is crucial in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
