A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Shelby County Il Clerk Election Division on February 5, 2025. The request, submitted by East Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, sought information about the candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specifics of the request included a complete list of all candidates along with their first, middle, and last names. Additionally, the office each candidate is running for and its jurisdiction were also requested. The party affiliation of each candidate was another key piece of information sought in this FOIA request.
Beyond just the basic candidate details, East Central Reporter also asked for contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
