FOIA Request to Cumberland County Il Clerk Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the Cumberland County Il Clerk Election Division.
Our request specifically asks for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We have asked for detailed information about each candidate including their first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As media professionals committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals and have communicated this in our request.
We await a response from the Cumberland County Il Clerk Election Division and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
