FOIA Request to Effingham County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Effingham County Election Division.
Our request seeks detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election. Specifically, we are interested in obtaining the first, middle, and last names of each candidate. Additionally, we are requesting details about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction, as well as their party affiliation.
In order to ensure thorough reporting and direct communication with these candidates, we have also requested contact information for each individual. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
Access to public records is crucial for us at East Central Reporter to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
