Arcola Community Unit School District 306 Building Committee met Oct. 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Tom Mulligan, Superintendent, Ken Vogt, Director of Building and Grounds; Board Members: Lucas Shonkwiler, Sue Stout, Julie Leyva-Sanchez, Casey Conlin, Jeremy Shonkwiler; Visitor – Ben Crane

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm in the Arcola District Office

The following is a summary of items discussed at the meeting:

Projects – Dr. Mulligan and Ken Vogt presented the building projects that they are recommending be completed in the district in the 24-25, 25-26 and 26-27 school years. They walked the board through each project and a rough cost estimate. There were several questions and discussions during this process.

Long Term Facility Plan –Dr. Mulligan then presented on the current and future financial picture in the capital improvement and health life safety fund based on the assumption that they completed the recommended projects discussed at the beginning of the meeting.

Other Projects – Dr. Mulligan and Mr. Vogt then presented a comprehensive list of projects that will need to be completed over the next 15 to 20 years. They ranked the projects by priority level with the highest priority projects needing to be completed first.

Trees – Dr. Mulligan discussed the fact that several memorial trees will need to be replaced this spring. The committee also discussed several trees on the property that will need to be taken down soon.

Dr. Mulligan and Mr. Vogt will continue planning for the projects discussed and getting more detailed cost proposals.

The building committee meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
