V. Items for Discussion

River Run | Saturday, October 5, 2024

Another great run was held on October 5. While we saw roughly the same number of runners as last year, we did have fewer 5k runners this year. The addition of a kid’s dash proved fruitful. 28 children participated in our inaugural kid’s dash, both children and parents alike delighted in the race. We hope to grow the kids dash even more next year.

We are still processing final invoices from the event but hope to have final numbers soon. It is the staff’s goal to host check presentations to our three beneficiaries at a November board meeting.

Overall, the event was a success. To help make it even better for next year, staff should have a cone for runners to physically turn around on the 10k route; we should extend our marketing and promotion strategies to reach even more runners; and ensure the length of the course is accurate. All items are noted and will be implemented appropriately for next year.

Merry & Bright | Sunday, December 8

The Village’s annual tree lighting will take place on Sunday, December 8 from 5- 7P. This festive event will host visits with Santa, crafts with Rotary Club of Montgomery, hot cocoa at Atrevete and more. Additionally, staff is working to activate River Street more and get more businesses involved.

The festival of trees is also in the works. As of this meeting, we have a confirmed 5 indoor trees and 1 outdoor tree. More trees are available, in limited quantities, and will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Please contact the Community Engagement and Events Coordinator if you are interested in securing a tree.

VI. New Business

Montgomery Fest Final Report - update

As staff closes out the final few invoices from Montgomery Fest, the final report will be finalized.

American English Concert in the Park – update

The concert in the park was a great success. We saw several hundred attendees come out and enjoy the concert. Positive feedback was given to both staff and elected officials; with many residents encouraging the Village to host more concerts in the park in 2025.
