FOIA Request to City of Neoga Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Neoga. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and we have expressed preference for an electronic format response.
The records requested include a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till today's date. We have asked for specific fields such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester, address, and contractor name.
In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their status. The same fields as mentioned above are required for these active permits as well.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We will continue our pursuit of transparency in local government affairs and look forward to sharing our findings with the public once the requested information is received.
