City of Tuscola City Council met Aug. 12.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The regular meeting of the Tuscola City Council was called to order with Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, Waldrop and Mayor Kleiss in attendance. Clerk Leamon was absent; Deputy Clerk Wasiloski filled in. Mayor Kleiss led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Consent Agenda
Mayor Kleiss went over the items on the consent agenda:
• Minutes of the Previous Meeting: July 22, 2024
• Financial Report: None
• Payment of bills totaling $392,663,57
• Pay request: Included in bills - L.J. Swingler & Sons for Police Station- $72,091.76. Change order for Police Station- $13,248
• Request to Conduct Fundraising: None
• Community Building lease request with alcohol: Becky's Buddies Fundraiser September 21, 2024.
TCHS Alumni Assoc. Reunion October 4-5,2024.

Hoey moved to approve the items on the consent agenda. Shoemaker seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter and Waldrop. City Clerk - Deputy Clerk Wasiloski mentioned circulation of petitions for the April 1,2025 Consolidated Election can begin August 20,2024. Candidate filing begins November 12, 2024 through November 15, 2024 and on November 18,2024 from 7:30am to 4:30pm at City Hall. The following seats are up for election: Mayor Kleiss, Clerk Leamon, Ward 1- Shoemaker, Ward 2-Day, Ward 3- Rund, and Ward 4- Hoey.
City Treasurer - No Report
City Attorney - Attorney Bequette reported on the progress of the property acquisition of the old church property at 307 S. Court. He expects the city to take ownership around mid- September.

Contracts and Agreements
August 12, 2024 Administrator Hoel discussed the contract for 7 new tasers requested by the Police Department through Axon Enterprises for the amount of $31,848.60. Slaughter moved to approve. Rund seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter and Waldrop.
Administrator Hoel encouraged everyone to review the Needs and Options Report prepared by UTZ & Associates Architects concerning the Tuscola pool. He also pointed out the need to consider preliminary work if the plan is to move forward on this project.
Mayor Kleiss acknowledged the update to pool hours on the Tuscola website.
The motion to adjourn was made by Slaughter and seconded by Morris. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter and Waldrop.
