Edgar County Community Unit School District 6 Board of Education met June 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Jim Spesard called the Regular Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 

Roll Call: 

Members Present: Shelley Good, John Rogers, Reed Nolen, Cody Denton, Jim Spesard, Kris Martinez and Cristie Thevenin 

Members Absent: None 

Correspondence: None 

Public Comment: None 

Jim Spesard moved to approve previous minutes for May. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved. 

Voting aye: Shelley Good, John Rogers, Cristie Thevenin, Cody Denton, Jim Spesard, Kris Martinez and Reed Nolen 

Voting nay: None 

Reed Nolen moved to approve financial matters and imprest fund reimbursement of $2,460.63. Shelley Good seconded. All members voted aye - motion approved. 

Voting aye: John Rogers, Shelley Good, Cody Denton, Cristie Thevenin, Jim Spesard, Kris Martinez and Reed Nolen 

Voting nay: None 

Reed Nolen moved to approve the amended FY24 budget as presented. Kris Martinez seconded. All members voted aye- motion approved. 

Voting aye: John Rogers, Shelley Good, Cody Denton, Cristie Thevenin, Jim Spesard, Kris Martinez and Reed Nolen 

Voting nay: None 

John Rogers moved to approve Future Business Leaders of America with a stipend of $1562.00. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Voting nay: None 

Reed Nolen moved to approve the greenhouse concrete floor and drain for $9600.00. Cristie Thevenin seconded. 6 members voted aye- 1 voted nay- motion approved.

Voting nay: Cody Denton 

Reed Nolen moved to approve Property/Casualty/Liability/Work Comp Insurance renewal as presented. Kris Martinez seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cody Denton moved to approve the proposed BOE meeting dates for FY25. John Rogers seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Reed Nolen moved to approve the FY25 breakfast/lunch price increase. Jim Spesard seconded. 3 members voted aye- 4 members voted nay- motion denied

Cristie Thevenin moved to approve Ag Business and Banking and Finance to count towards education requirements of graduation. Jim Spesard seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Reed Nolen moved to approve the online Spanish from Edmentum. Jim Spesard seconded. All members voted aye- motion approved.

Reed Nolen moved to approve the Terminix service plan as presented. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cody Denton moved to approve the boiler room brick replacement as presented. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Jim Spesard moved to approve the Cardinal Cupboard wall repair as presented. Reed Nolen seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Reed Nolen moved to adjourn Regular Session at 7:52 p.m. Cody Denton seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cristie Thevenin moved to approve the resignation of Andy Ruff as JH Science Teacher. Cody Denton seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cody Denton moved to approve Samantha Pettry as Elementary Principal with a starting salary of $71,500, contingent upon successfully completing a background criminal/sex offender screening. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cody Denton moved to approve Christian Baumann as a long-term sub for HS math, contingent upon successfully completing a background criminal/sex offender screening. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cody Denton moved to approve Jason Whitaker as JH/HS Dean of Students/JH Science Teacher with a starting salary of $55,000 plus benefits, contingent upon successfully completing a background criminal/sex offender screening. Cristie Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye- motion approved. 

Voting aye: John Rogers, Cody Denton, Cristie Thevenin, Shelly Good, Jim Spesard, Kris Martinez and Reed Nolen 

Voting nay: None 

Cristie Thevenin moved to approve the FY25 salary increases for all staff not under the collective bargaining agreement. Cody Denton seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Cody Denton moved to approve Troy Warner as Transportation Director at $27/hour for two hours per day. Crisite Thevenin seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.

Voting Nay: None 

Cristie Thevenin moved to approve the administrative contract for Nicole Cox. Cody Denton seconded. All members voted aye-motion approved.
