State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) has announced a partnership with the Illinois Optometric Association to provide free safety sunglasses to residents of the 110th District for the upcoming total eclipse of the sun on April 8, 2024. The initiative aims to ensure the eye safety of Illinoisans during this rare celestial event.
"I want to thank the Illinois Optometric Association for making these solar eclipse glasses available at no charge for the eye safety of Illinoisans," stated Rep. Blaine Wilhour. "Please contact my district office if you would like to have a pair for yourself and your family."
The Illinois Optometric Association (IOA) is supplying certified glasses that adhere to the ISO 12312-2 safety standards, guaranteeing safe viewing of the impending total eclipse in early April. The glasses, which are manufactured in the USA and come with a three-year warranty, are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents interested in obtaining a pair of safety sunglasses can contact the district office at 618-665-4109 or visit RepWilhour.com to schedule a pickup by Friday, April 5th, at the district office located at 152 S. Church Street in Louisville.
For those unable to visit the district office, an alternative option is available during the Traveling Office Hours on Wednesday, April 3, at various locations:
- Ramsey Village Hall – 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
- Evans Public Library (Vandalia) – 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Mulberry Grove Village Hall – 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
