In a bid to champion the preservation of Second Amendment rights, renowned firearms expert John Boch and State Rep. Chris Miller (R-Oakland) will join forces at the Guns Saves Lives event on Monday, Nov. 27. The event is scheduled to take place at the Newman Regional Library, located at 207 S Coffin St, Suite D, Newman, IL; the event kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

“This Event is Going To Be a Good One!” Miller said on Facebook.

“Join John Boch from Guns Save Life and me on November 27th to discuss the unconstitutional gun ban in Illinois and what legislators are doing to protect our Second Amendment Rights.”

The event promises an insightful discussion on the importance of defending the constitutional right to bear arms. Attendees can expect an engaging discourse on the ongoing efforts to safeguard citizens’ rights to own firearms and the implications for personal safety. A Q and A session is part of the event according to the announcement.

The event comes as the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hear a challenge of Illinois’ controversial gun ban, the Protecting Illinois Communities Act, which outlawed over 700 types of commonly owned firearms.

State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) has voiced concerns about the gun ban and potential resistance from gun owners in the state. He noted in a recent hearing that "hundreds of thousands of people absolutely will not comply" with a registry of those firearms as a federal appeal is being considered, according to Chambana Sun.

Miller is a member of The Illinois Freedom Caucus along with State Representatives Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich), Jed Davis (R-Newark), Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville), Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City), David Friess (R-Red Bud), and Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) according to the group’s website.
