City of Casey City Council met June 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held Monday June 19th, 2023; beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Mike Nichols was present and called the meeting to order. Marcy Mumford led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call:

Present: Alderman Hanley

Alderman Jenkins

Alderman Mumford

Alderman Richardson

Alderman Williams

Alderman Wilson

Absent: None

A quorum was declared.

Public Forum:

None

Community Affairs:

None

Meeting Minutes:

Mayor Nichols looked for approval of the minutes of the June 5th, 2023 City

Council Meeting.

Alderman Mumford motioned approval of the minutes of the June 5th, 2023 City

Council Meeting, seconded by Alderman Richardson. Upon roll call the vote was:

Ayes: 6 – Richardson, Williams, Wilson, Hanley, Jenkins and Mumford

Nays: 0 – None

Motion declared carried.

Officers Reports:

Clerk Mumford presented June 19th, 2023 Bills Payable for approval in the

amount of $413,761.64

Alderman Williams motioned approval of the June 19th, 2023 Bills Payable, seconded by Alderman Hanley. Upon roll call the vote was:

Ayes: 6 – Williams, Wilson, Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford and Richardson

Nays: 0 – None

Motion declared carried. 

Mayor Nichols requested that we get monthly updates on what revenues we bring in.

Alderman Williams asked for a progress update on the downtown bathrooms.

Chief Henderson tabled the purchase of a new vehicle. He also thanked EMA for their help this past weekend downtown.

EMA Director Craig gave a report on recent activities they have helped with.

New Business:

Alderman Mumford gave a report from the Downtown Improvement meeting they held on 6/13/2023. They presented a map they would like to see implemented for all downtown events.

Alderman Hanley gave a report on the City Hall/Public Safety meeting they held on 6/19/2023.

They are going to get another bid for the camera system, and they aren’t going to recommend any changes to ordinances for motorized bicycles.

Alderman Richardson gave a report on park Committee Meeting held on 6/19/2023 where they looked over the park bathrooms and shower houses.

None

Alderman Reports:

Alderman Jenkins asked about covering up the one way signs on SE 4th street for the summer.

Alderman Wilson reported that she enjoyed the downtown activities this past week.

Alderman Mumford asked for an update on the Cannabis Dispensary.

Mayor Report:

Mayor Nichols reported that he enjoyed working with the Chamber this past weekend cooking at their cookout. He also thanked all who called and sent cards to his family.

There was no further Business of the City Council for the June 19th, 2023 Council Meeting.

Adjournment:

Alderman Mumford motioned to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Wilson. Upon roll call the vote was:

Ayes: 6 – Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson, Williams and Wilson

Nays: 0 – None

Motion declared carried.

Adjournment of the City Council was at 6:37 p.m.
