State Rep. Chris Miller (R-Oakland) is running for re-election in 2024.
Miller plans to run for reelection in 2024 despite being drawn out of his district by Democrats.
“I am a third-generation farmer and Illinois is now a moral and fiscal train wreck,” Miller told The Center Square. “I’m not leaving Illinois, neither is my family. We can do better and I am going to do my best to see that we do.”
Renting a home in a new district, Miller aims to continue representing the people of Central Illinois and prioritize constitutional principles, limited government and economic prosperity in his agenda. He said he refuses "to give in to the destructive policies coming from the Democrats in Illinois."
"It is my honor to represent the commonsense people of Central Illinois and be their voice in Springfield," Miller said. “As a conservative caucus, we’re finally making headway. There’s still a lot of work to do as we fight to take back our state, but we’re making progress. Up until recently, what we’ve been watching is the destruction of our state. The problem’s been you can find lots of politicians to run for office but it’s hard to find statesmen with the courage and conviction to put the well-being of the state first. My motto has always been Illinois first.”
Miller is married to conservative Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL).
Miller, the Chairman of the Illinois Freedom Caucus, which is also comprised of GOP State Reps. Brad Halbrook, Blaine Wilhour, Adam Niemerg, Dan Caulkins, Jed Davis and David Friess. It is part of the broader State Freedom Caucus Network.
“We need patriots who will serve in our state capitals to fight federal overreach and stand firm against those — in both parties — who prioritize seizing political power over representing constituents,” the Illinois Freedom Caucus' website reads.
