City of Arcola City Council met Jan. 16.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Garza, Becerra, Foran, Hensley and Smith were present. Alderman Budd was not present. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson, Chief Suding and Attorney Bequette were also present.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Garza led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT Karina Warfel presented a plan to turn the Metropolitan Block into a plaza with several ideas connecting Arcola with its Mexico Sister City, Cadereyta.
Sharilyn Kibler spoke on her proposal to dedicate the corner at Oak and Washington as Curtis & Doris Atteberry corner with possibly a bench placed there in honor of work Doris always did on flowerbed at that location.
APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 19, 2022 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman Foran moved to approve the December 19, 2022 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Garza. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 17, 2022 THROUGH JANUARY 13, 2023 BILLS Alderman Hensley moved to approve the December 17, 2022 – January 13, 2023 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll Call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF DECEMBER ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT The Zoning Officer reported 1 permit issued in the month of December with valuation of $96,000 and a fee in amount of $128 collected. Alderman Foran moved to approve the December Zoning Officer’s report as presented and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
CONSIDER AND ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF OFFICER A. J. ROLEY Alderman Smith moved to accept the resignation of Officer A. J. Roley and was seconded by Alderman Becerra. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Alderman Garza Had nothing at this time.
Alderman Becerra Had nothing at this time.
Alderman Foran Had nothing at this time.
Alderman Hensley Had nothing at this time.
Alderman Smith Reported the Police, Ordinance & Enforcement Committee met prior to this meeting and went into executive session (5 ILCS 120/2c) also discussed hiring process for new officer.
As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderman Hensley moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Garza. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.\
