City of Casey City Council met Jan. 3.

The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held Tuesday January 3rd, 2023; beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Mike Nichols was present and called the meeting to order. Steve Jenkins led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Meeting Minutes:
Mayor Nichols looked for approval of the minutes of the December 19th, 2022 City Council Meeting.
Alderman Mumford motioned approval of the minutes of the December 19th, 2022 City Council Meeting, seconded by Alderman Jenkins. Upon roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 4 – Wilson, Jenkins, Mumford and Ruffner
Nays: 0 – None
Absent: 2 – Richardson and Williams
Motion declared carried.
Officers Reports:
Clerk Mumford looked for approval of December 2022 Bills Paid in the amount of $687,062.19.
Alderman Jenkins motioned approval of December 2022 Bills paid, seconded by Alderman Ruffner. Upon roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 4 – Wilson, Jenkins, Mumford and Ruffner
Nays: 0 – None
Absent: 2 – Richardson and Williams
Motion declared carried.
Treasurer Lorton presented the December 2022 Treasurer’s Collection Deposit Report for approval in the amount of $653,764.35.
Alderman Ruffner motioned approval of December 2022 Treasurer’s Collection Deposit Report, seconded by Alderman Mumford. Upon roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 4 – Jenkins, Mumford, Ruffner and Wilson
Nays: 0 – None
Absent: 2 – Richardson and Williams
Motion declared carried.
New Business:
Kelsey Swing with Gilbert, Metzger & Madigan, LLP presented and went over the FY 2022 Audit. She reported that they have an unmodified opinion, which means the audit went well this year.

Alderman Reports:
Alderman Wilson thanked all departments for working during this recent cold spell.
Mayor Report:
Mayor Nichols went over the following projects he would like to work on and get done this year:
- Downtown Bathrooms
- Drainage projects in SE and NE sections of town
- Ordinance Committee get together to discuss new video gaming parlor
- Part-Time Tourism position
- Possibility of hiring another Police Officer
- Dispensary is still an ongoing project
Chief Henderson reported that the new car is in and the new officer is currently doing his FTO.
There was no further Business of the City Council for the January 3rd, 2023 Council Meeting.
