Job Description:
The Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce is a fun and rewarding job that combines a unique blend of providing local businesses and organizations support through the chamber’s membership, event planning that raises funds to support the existence of the chamber along with recruitment of new members and focusing on retention of current members.The definition of the Chamber of Commerce can be described as a non-profit organization that leads the business community’s efforts to support and enhance the local community. They promote local businesses & organizations and sponsor their own community events to give back to the community, support local efforts, and raise funds to support the day-to-day operations of the Chamber itself.
Duties of the Executive Director include but are not limited to: day to day operations of the Chamber office (phone calls, email, strong social media presence, receiving, recording and depositing incoming and outgoing monies, newsletter creation) recruitment of new members, retention of current members, organization of the membership as a whole, fundraising, monthly board meeting preparation, scheduling and hosting ribbon cuttings for new members, promotion on WNOI/Wabash Tv/Facebook live videos/in person events. The Executive Director and the chamber office shall also serve as a point for tourism at the Historic B&O Railroad Depot, as well as give occasional tours and schedule room rentals for events.
