Children and community members have been creating works of art and submitting them for the 3rd Annual Children’s Art Auction hosted by Crisis Nursery of Effingham. Each piece for the auction is its own wonderful, unique creation. It was best said by MaryAnn F. Kohl, “Art is a place for Children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves, and to explore what is possible.” Some of the paintings were done by children while staying at Crisis Nursery. One such painting, “Jumping Bean” was (auction item #156) completed by a 9-month-old infant who stayed at Crisis Nursery. The canvas, along with blobs of colorful paint, were put inside a Ziploc bag, and the little Picasso created his masterpiece by using his tiny baby feet while playing in an ExerSaucer. If you look closely at the painting, you can see the tiny toes working their magic!
This activity highlights Crisis Nursery at its best: Providing crisis care, meeting children where they are emotionally, while also nurturing children’s development in all areas. In supporting the Children’s Art Auction, you’re making a direct impact on children in our community, such as our “Jumping Bean”. The $10 registration fee alone sponsors the equivalent of 1 pack of diapers for a child’s one-day stay at Crisis Nursery. Crisis Nursery provides all childhood items so that families in crisis only need to bring their child(ren) and not worry about anything else. Purchasing one piece of artwork similarly supports children of Crisis Nursery.
The 3rd Annual Children’s Art Auction will open online Monday, November 28, 2022 until 7pm on Friday, December 9, 2022. Each purchase from the Online Auction will directly benefit Crisis Nursery of Effingham. If a painted masterpiece isn’t on your “must have” there will also be opportunities to directly purchase items for the Nursery to be distributed to families in need, such as car seats.
If you are interested in supporting Crisis Nursery of Effingham and validating the skills of local young artists, check out the pieces already submitted at register for the auction.
The $10 registration fee enters the attendee into a chance to win $1,000 the last day of the auction (December 9th).
