City of Flora City Council met May 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

OPENING CEREMONIES

At 4:30 p.m., Mayor Rick Slaughter called the Regular Council Meeting of the City of Flora to order and City Clerk Becky Burgess called roll. Present were Mayor Rick Slaughter, Commissioner Mike Genthe, Commissioner Phil Wiley, Commissioner Linda Spicer and Commissioner Jim Fehrenbacher.

Others in attendance were City Attorney Bob Coble, City Administrator Mike Stanford, Chief of Police Guye Durre, City Clerk Becky Burgess, City Treasurer Jeremy Henderson, Building/Zoning Official Chad Bayles, Superintendent of Public Services Toby Rinehart, one media representative (Mary Anne Maxwell) and three guests.

Mayor Rick Slaughter led the Pledge of Allegiance and Commissioner Linda Spicer offered the Invocation.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Don Fry addressed Council requesting the use of the REA Building at Charley Brown Park. On behalf of the Flora Masonic Lodge, Mr. Fry plans to hold a fundraiser auction, along with refreshments (set up May 20^^ and auction on May 21®*). All proceeds will go to the Shriners Hospital for children.

A MOTION TO APPROVE THE FLORA MASONIC LODGE TO HOLD A FUNDRAISER AT THE REA BUILDING AT CHARLEY BROWN PARK ON MAY 21, 2022, WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER GENTHE; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER FEHRENBACHER.

• Vote: Yes - Slaughter, Genthe, Wiley, Spicer, Fehrenbacher

No - None

Abstain - None; Absent - None

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

A MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGENDA FOR THE MAY 2, 2022 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING FOR THE CITY OF FLORA WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SPICER; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER WILEY.

• Vote: Yes - Slaughter, Genthe, Wiley, Spicer, Fehrenbacher

No - None

Abstain - None; Absent - None

CONSENT AGENDA

The following items were listed under the Consent Agenda:

• APPROVE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 18, 2022

• APPROVE SCHEDULE OF BILLS FOR PERIOD ENDING APRIL 28, 2022

A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER FEHRENBACHER; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SPICER.

REGULAR BUSINESS

Mayor Rick Slaughter presented appointments for the Library.

A MOTION TO REAPPOINT JOE GILLILAND, KARI WARREN AND DOUG MACK TO THE FLORA PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD FOR A 3-YEAR TERM, EXPIRING MAY OF 2025, WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER WILEY; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SPICER.

• Vote: Yes - Slaughter, Genthe, Wiley, Spicer, Fehrenbacher

No - None

Abstain - None; Absent - None

Commissioner Phil Wiley noted how nice the flowers look in the downtown area. ADJOURN

At approximately 4:36 p.m., with no further business to discuss. Mayor Slaughter requested a motion to adjourn.

COMMISSIONER WILEY MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SPICER. COUNCIL MEMBERS CONCURRED AND MAYOR SLAUGHTER DECLARED SAID MEETING ADJOURNED.
