City of Martinsville City Council met June 8

City of Martinsville City Council met June 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. Alderman Lovell led us in Prayer. All in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Roll call was answered by the following council members and elected officials: Chris Davidson, Chris Perry, John Skinner, and Ashley Wilhoit. Treasurer Terri Connelly was absent. Also, in attendance were Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk Jana Akers, and Attorney Richard Bernardoni. Employees and citizens in attendance are attached to the back of the minutes.

Public Comments:

Officer Slater stated no applications for 3rd officer

--Motion by C Davidson 2nd by A Whilhoit for approval of minutes from the 05/23/22 city council meeting as amended -no pledge by Melinda Lovell

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6).

--Motion by C Davidson 2nd by M Lovell for May 2022 bills payable June 2022

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

--Motion by T Propst 2nd by J Skinner for approval of hiring someone part-time for when the collector is gone

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

Mayor Davidson:

-we got the keys for the new building

-Ameren has the info on street lights

-street painter cost of $2,892

-still working on info on property by fairgrounds

-received information that the city was left money in a will for repairs of sidewalks -contacting Flat Rock & Consolidated about phone systems for the new phone system for new building

C Davidson:

-Bob Jenkins stated that the trans clutch was going out

-make the new building handicap accessible

-concrete in back needs repair

T Propst:

-Truelove property, what is the status

Attorney Bernardoni:

-sending notice to old uniform company on contract in a week

Tabled: treasurer’s report

-Motion by C Perry 2nd by A Wilhoit to adjourn meeting at 7:16 pm
