The clock is ticking on Illinois' primary election, and Republican gubernatorial candidate and Sen. Darren Bailey is rallying up his supporters for the final stretch ahead of the big day.
Bailey took to social media to ask those who support his candidacy to help make his campaign successful by calling people or speaking with them face to face in the days leading up to June 28.
"We are so thankful for our thousands of motivated volunteers across the state who continue to knock doors, make calls, and show up to support our movement," Bailey said on Facebook. "We are needing your help for a major push this Saturday. Will you help us fire Pritzker, reform Springfield and restore Illinois? Trafalgar Group, which predicted former President Donald Trump's 2016 win, released results of a study that revealed voters in Illinois were more likely to vote for Bailey, Prairie State Wire reported.
"These results are because of YOU," Bailey said on Facebook. "The Trafalgar Group accurately predicted Trump's win in 2016 and more."
In recent weeks, Bailey has reiterated the need for election integrity and even proposed creating an election integrity task force and a yearly voter roll purge, Prairie State Wire reported. Bailey said he'd also like to see random audits of 1% of voters' ballots and signatures, as well as requiring voter IDs. He'd also like to provide free IDs for those without driver's licenses or state ID cards.
"Friends, it's important that we ensure election integrity," Bailey said on Facebook. "The best way we can do that is having trained poll watchers. Please sign up to join our Election Integrity Task Force. We have some great volunteers who will train you and ensure you can be successful in help secure our elections."
He has also assured his constituents he is firmly pro-life, SE Illinois News reported.
"When other candidates in this race are hiding and refusing to say where they stand, I'm proud to stand to protect life," Bailey said on Facebook. "I am proudly pro-life and endorsed by every major pro-life group in the state. I have stated from the beginning that I would help and promote policies and groups that help empower women with real options and save lives."
