City of Martinsville City Council met March 23.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
*The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. Alderman Lovell led us in Prayer. All in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Roll call was answered by the following council members and elected officials: Chris Davidson, Chris Perry, Melinda Lovell, John Skinner, and Troy Propst. Also, in attendance were Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk Jana Akers, and Attorney Richard Bernardoni. Employees and citizens in attendance are attached to the back of the minutes.
The City Council of Martinsville would like to send our condolences to the family of Preston Rukes. Rest easy friend, you will be missed.
Public Comments:
--Officer Ryan Slater-possibility of hiring a 3rd police officer and with the possibility of part-time academy vs. full time
-Motion by T Propst 2nd by C Perry for approval of minutes from the 3/9/22 city council meeting -Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (5)
-Jacob Burks was here to discuss the CLEAN uniforms with the council. Explained all cost of the uniforms and said that he would send a contract for the council to review.
-Motion by J Skinner 2nd by C Davidson for the purchase of the confined entry monitor in the amount of $620 plus shipping
Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (5)
-Council agreed to have applications out for summer help until April 27th, will be hiring two
-KONE will cost $13,150 for inspection of the elevator
-County has offered to purchase the red gas truck for $4,500
-Changing Hands will be moving to 30 W Cumberland

Casey State is looking to be out by June 1st, they got their approval from the Federal Government
