Analysis: North Clay administrators rank 781st in state for average pay

Administrators in North Clay Community Unit School District 25 earn an average of $78,800 per year, ranking 781st out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 0.3 percent lower than in 2016 and 3.3 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 29.2 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The North Clay School District in Clay County enrolled 589 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 147 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
