OCC Knight Kape Serving Homemade Pizza

13

Wabash Valley College Community College issued the following announcement on Aug. 18

Olney Central College’s Knight Kafe is expanding its menu this fall to include homemade pizza.

The medium-sized pizzas contain eight slices each and come with a choice of one to three toppings for $10. Choose from traditional favorites like pepperoni and mushrooms or try new combinations like chicken and spinach. Specialty pizzas are $12 and include Hawaiian, Philly Cheese Steak, Taco, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Meat Lovers, BBQ and Italian Beef.

“Response has been phenomenal,” said Knight Kafe Manger Teresa Baker, who previewed the items this summer. “The most popular is the Philly Cheese Steak and the Pepperoni Mushroom. We’re planning a tasting soon so everyone can see it really is good pizza.”

Baker added the new options with OCC athletes and organizations in mind. She noted athletes often order items at lunchtime they can take home and reheat for dinner. For OCC clubs, the pizzas are a convenient and affordable alternative for luncheon meetings and special events.

Same-day orders should be placed at least 20 minutes in advance as the items are prepared fresh. A convenient take and bake option also is available.

Clubs wishing to purchase multiple pizzas should contact the Knight Kafe at least two days in advance. Orders of 20 or more should be placed a week ahead.

In addition to pizza, OCC clubs can take advantage of the Knight Kafe’s catering services.

“A lot of people don’t realize this is available,” Baker said. “We can make veggie trays, sandwiches and homemade salads.”

The Knight Kafe serves the OCC community and is open to the public for dine-in and carryout. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Orders can be placed by calling 618-395-7777, ext. 2026.
