City of Martinsville City Council Met April 28.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
*The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson, prayer was given by Melinda Lovell and all in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Roll call was answered by the following council members and elected officials: Chris Davidson, Chris Perry, Melinda Lovell, Troy Propst, John Skinner and Preston Rukes. Also, in attendance were Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk Marlene Wilhoit, attorney Richard Bernardoni. Employees and citizens in attendance are attached to the back of the minutes.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
-none
*Motion by T Propst 2nd by P Rukes to approve minutes of council meeting from 04/14/2021 Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)
*Bids were received for a dangerous tree at The Woodlands as following: Carver Tree Service $1200.00 Wayne Tree Service $1500.00 Maxey Tree Service $700.00 and Woodchucks Tree Service $2700.00 Motion by C Davidson 2nd by J Skinner to accept the bid of $700.00 from Maxey Tree Service. Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)
*Mayor will look into cost of signage for entrances into city for notable accomplishments in the community
*Have list of trees that need removed to present at next meeting.
*Employee compensation of pay was discussed and ordinance will be prepared for next meeting for approval
*Council will see if any interest from an adult in the community to work part time (maximum of 32 hours per week) @ $12.00 per hour to mainly mow and weed eat. To be approved at the next council meeting.
*Motion by J Skinner 2nd by P Rukes to go into executive meeting to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of a specific employee @ 7:45 PM. Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)
*Motion by C Davidson 2nd by C Perry to resume into regular meeting @ 7:48 PM Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)
COUNCIL COMMENTS
-The Truelove property on West Cumberland Street was again discussed and council is not happy with the time it is taking to get this cleaned up.
-Notice of yards that need mowed and enforcement needed also including junk enforcement -need to discuss someone to enforce codes at next meeting
-Attorney Bernardoni will hold his newly elected seminar 1 hour before the May 12th meeting to go over topics for the newly elected council. New council will be seated at the May 12th meeting.
With no other comments:
*Motion by C Davison 2nd by C Perry to adjourn the meeting @ 8:00 PM.
All council members present voted for the motion. (6)
