City of Martinsville City Council met March 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

*The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson, all in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Roll call was answered by the following council members and elected officials: Chris Perry, Troy Propst and John Skinner with Chris Davidson, Melinda Lovell and Preston Rukes absent. Also, in attendance were Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk Marlene Wilhoit, Treasurer Terri Connelly and attorney Richard Bernardoni. Employees and citizens in attendance are attached to the back of the minutes.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

-Corey Cook, Supt of Water/Wastewater addressed council about a camera that was demonstrated from Key Equipment that would attach to the jet machine and record pictures inside sewer lines. It was used and pictures were very clear. The City would be able to purchase the camera for $5,500.00. -Corey also looked into a newer jet machine that could be purchased used for $58,000 or new for $68,000 and a jet machine/vac truck combo on a truck for $72,000 used. Council will need to look at appropriations to see if feasible.

-Jeff Dhom addressed council about a business endeavor he and his family are considering in the Martinsville area. Jeff asked for full support from the council to help with his decision. He would have more details later. Council support looks promising.

*Motion by T Propst 2nd by C Perry to approve minutes of council meeting from 02/24/2021 Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (4)

*Motion by J Skinner 2nd by Propst to approve the Treasurer report as presented.

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (4)

*Motion by T Propst 2nd by J Skinner to approve February 2021 bills payable March 2021 in the amount of $57,762.71.

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (4)

*Motion by J Skinner 2nd by T Propst to approve the purchase of repair hose for the jet machine not to exceed $3000.00

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (4)

Council previewed the bid packet for garbage service with clarification to the number of receptacles allowed per household and how to request additional service and who will be responsible for billing. With legal council approval bids will be ready to disperse.

New larger street signage is required for the four entrances off of Route 40 into Martinsville. Mayor Davidson received a quote from Progressive Chemicals that would not to exceed $600.00 for all 4 signs. *Motion by T Propst 2nd by C Perry to approve purchase of 4 street signs for entrances off of Route 40 not to exceed $600.00.

Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (4)

COUNCIL COMMENTS:

-Water tower bids were opened today and after the engineer looks over things, he will talk about the bids at the next council meeting

-the electrical aggregation contract for the City was signed today with “Homefield” being the better energy supplier coming in at $0.05048. This amount will stay the same for 30 months. It is the same energy supplier the City had already and the price is actually lower than the last contract. -Truelove is still cleaning on the property at the west edge of Cumberland Street

**Motion by C Perry 2nd by J Skinner to adjourn the meeting @ 7:50 PM.
