City of Flora issued the following announcement on Dec. 16.
The Flora Tourism Committee regretfully announces that upon discovery on Monday morning, December 14th, the Christmas in the Park donation locked-box out at Charley Brown Park was vandalized and torn apart. It was also discovered that reindeer light displays put out by the city were also stolen from the base of memorial hill. We are saddened that this would occur at anytime of the year, let alone during the Christmas holiday. We will not have a donation box put out for the remainder of the season as we assess a safer way for patrons to show their support for the lights in the park. If you would like to make a donation for the light displays so that we can maintain current displays as well as add to them as we are able in the future, please feel free to drop them off during business hours at the Flora Chamber of Commerce, or to the office by mail to 223 W. Railroad St., Flora, IL 62839. We thank you for your continued support!
