City of Casey issued the following announcement on Oct. 10.
Casey In Action is hosting a Halloween Decorating Contest 2020, looking for the most spooktacular house, porch or yard in the Casey area. Participating homes may be located within city limits, plus east on Washington Road, north on Hickory Lane, south on County Road 230 E to and including Hillcrest and Lakeview Drive and north on 330th Road, including Briarwood.
Participants are asked to sign up by Thursday, October 22 by emailing their name, address and phone number with the subject line “CIA Halloween” to chons1355@gmail.com. Questions may be sent to the same email. If email is not an option, entry forms may be picked up at Casey City Hall, completed and submitted at City Hall, or mailed to CIA, PO Box 163, Casey, IL 62420. All entries must be received by October 22, 2020.
Contest rules include no humans or animals may be used in the display, all displays must be appropriate for all ages, no obstruction of walkways and fire safety equipment, all items to be included in the display must be visible from the street, and all lights, animations and decorations must be in place and activated between 6:00 and 9:00 pm on Friday, October 23.
Criteria for judging include unique design or theme with application throughout the display, creativity and overall presentation. Prizes will be given for the top three entries with winners being notified and announced in the Casey Westfield Reporter. Prizes are: 1st place $150.00, 2nd place $100.00, 3rd place $50.00. There is no entry fee.
Dates to remember:
October 22: All entries must be received by this date in order to be included in the judge's list of entries.
October 23: Judging of all entries from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
October 31: Halloween! Please have all lights, animations and special effects turned on this evening.
