Shelbyville Community Unit School District No. 4 Board of Education met Aug. 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Shelbyville Community Unit School District No. 4 met in a Special Board meeting at 7:00 P.M., in the Shelbyville High School Gym. Members present: Gary Hayden, Mike Durbin, Jake Hankins, Ellen Trainor, Scott West and Rob Bosgraaf.

Discussion of Board Policy 7:40 – 1st Reading Current Board policy allows nonpublic students to participate in school district extracurricular activities and it also allows part-time students. Administration is recommending that the district limit part time students to Driver's Education. Driver's Education is required by law. The policy is on display for this meeting and can be voted on at the regular BOE meeting in August.

Discussion of Board Policy 8:4- Face Coverings - 1st Reading This policy is on display for this meeting and can be voted on at the regular BOE meeting in August.

Motion: Hankins Seconded: Durbin Motion to approve the resolution affirming the transition to school plans for Shelbyville CUSD #4 and for each school building for the 2020-2021 school year. Yea - Hankins, Durbin, Hayden, Trainor, West and Bosgraaf. Motion passed.

Motion: Durbin Seconded: Trainor Motion to approve the contract with Edgenuity Inc. in the amount of $35,495. Yea - Durbin, Trainor, Hayden, West, Hankins and Bosgraaf. Motion passed.

Discussion regarding the purchasing of two 20x40 tents for Main Street School in the amount of $8,623.12.

Motion: Durbin Seconded: Hayden Motion to enter Executive Session RE: Appointment, Employment, and Compensation, Performance, or Dismissal of Specific Employee(s) of the School District, Collective Bargaining Negotiations and Student Discipline at 7:55PM. Yea - Durbin, Hayden, Trainor, West, Hankins and Bosgraaf. Motion passed.

Resignation of Samantha Bonny as a Family Support Specialist effective immediately.

• Resignation Maggie Keown as 7th gradeolleyball Coach effective immediately.

• Resignation of Louis Murphy as a Crossing Guard effective immediately.

• Unpaid Leave of Absence request from Corie Petty for the 2020-2021 school year. Yea - Hankins, Durbin, Hayden, Trainor, West and Bosgraaf. Motion passed.
