1 Effingham County resident under 20 tests positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 30

One Effingham County resident under 20 years of age tested positive for COVID-19 on August 30, according to numbers being reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In total, there have been 77 positive cases reported in Effingham County among residents under 20, accounting for 14.7 percent of all cases in the county. Through August 30, Effingham County has reported a total of 523 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, one of which has ended with the victim's death.

Illinois gathers all of their COVID-19 data from across the state electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it's transmission.
