55 percent of applicants to Eastern Illinois University were admitted for fall 2018

At Eastern Illinois University, 87 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Charleston enrolled 7,526 students in fall 2018, including 6,012 in undergraduate and 1,514 in graduate programs, data shows. 10.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

88 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 11 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (61 percent) and Black or African American (17 percent).

The school admitted 55 percent of the 8,580 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 17 percent enrolled.
