CITY OF FLORA: Notice Of Hearing On Downstate Small Business Stabilization Grant Program Applicants

City of Flora issued the following announcement on July 3.

The City of Flora will hold a public hearing on July 20, 2020, at 4:15 P.M. to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed Downstate Small Business Stabilization application funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact the City Clerk at 618-662-8313 no later than July 17, 2020. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

On or about July 21, 2020, the City of Flora intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a grant from the State CDBG program. This program is funded by Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used to provide working capital for the benefit of the following businesses: Clay County Amusements in the amount of $25,000, DC Weld Inc. in the amount of $25,000, and Southern Illinois Workers, Inc. in the amount of $25,000. The total amount of CDBG funds to be requested is $75,000 and will address the urgent needs of the aforementioned businesses due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Information related to this application will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of July 8, 2020 at the City Hall Building, Flora, Illinois between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Written comments should be submitted to the City Treasurer at the City Hall Building, Flora, Illinois no later than July 17, 2020 to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings. This project will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses.
