ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 109: $375,000 in Grants for Non-Profits Helping Feed & House Families During the Coronavirus Emergency

Zz

Illinois State House District 109 issued the following announcement on June 30.

State Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) is joining the state treasurer’s office in reminding non-profit organizations that there is a grant program through the Charitable Trust Stabilization Fund which assists small non-profits with annual budgets of $1 million or less designed to help provide food and housing assistance. The grant program will begin taking applications beginning on July 1.

“Many people and groups help others out of the goodness of their hearts and never expect anything in return,” said Rep. Bailey. “But with so many across Illinois struggling during the COVID-19 emergency, this grant may be a welcome help to some of the charities in our area. I encourage them to learn more and apply if they qualify.”

For this grant cycle, $375,000 is available to be split between 30 non-profits. The maximum award amount is $12,500 for each organization. The money comes from filing fees non-profits pay when incorporating in the state of Illinois, not personal or property tax dollars.

In each area, the Charitable Trust Board will consider a range of programs such as but not limited to the following:

Food Programs:

Food Pantries

Supplemental School Feeding Programs

Summer Feeding Programs

SNAP Outreach

Farmer’s Market SNAP expansion

Access to fresh produce

Meal Deliveries

Housing Programs:

Short Term Housing and Supportive Services

 Emergency Financial Support to prevent

 Homelessness

 Foreclosure Prevention Counseling

 Affordable Housing Advocacy/Construction/Rehabilitation

 Accessibility in Housing

 Fair Housing Counseling/Education

 Home ownership counselling

The upcoming application period runs from July 1 to September 30, 2020. Visit ilcharitabletrust.com to complete an application online or contact the treasurer’s office at (217) 836-4590.
