Analysis: Mattoon pays $9.13 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Mattoon Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 90.1 percent of the $2,029,600 the Mattoon Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $9.13 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Mattoon contributed $1,829,282 to the fund, which saw a $291,894 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $200,317, or 9.9 percent, in 2018. Another $1 came from other unspecified sources.
