The Paris Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism issued the following announcement on May 15.
Horizon Health has the ability to order antibody testing through its business relationship with LabCorp. Turnaround time for results is 3 to 5 days.
Testing applies to persons who meet the following criteria:
• Are not experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
• Have not experienced a fever in the past three days.
• Have had, or suspect they have had, COVID-19 but have not experienced any new symptoms in the past 10 days.
The test is only available for persons age 18 and older. Antibody tests may not be able to show if a person has been exposed to COVID-19 because it can take at least two weeks after exposure to develop antibodies.
Horizon Health will be offering a drive-through antibody testing May 20 from 10 am to 1 pm. This drive-through is available to the community and a provider order is not required.
However, it's important to remember that there has not been enough research to determine what the antibodies actually mean. It's unclear that if you have the antibodies that you will become immune to COVID-19.
