City of Casey issued the following announcement on May 8.
The Street Department provides brush removal service as a courtesy to customers within the city limits, time and weather permitting. Customer cooperation with the following guidelines is required in order to continue this service.
Brush:
• Brush and yard waste will be removed according to the following schedule:
North of Main Street: 1st and 3rd Mondays;
South of Main Street: 2nd and 4th Mondays
• Refrain from placing brush, bagged yard waste and/or containers out by the street prior to your scheduled day.
• One time pick-up per scheduled day.
• Piles are to be no more than 6 ft. long x 4 ft. wide x 4 ft. high, cut in 4 ft. lengths. Any oversized pile will require a backhoe, and will be picked up the last week of the month. Pre-notification to the city is required. Call the Utilities Department at 932-4885.
• Shrubs, bushes, etc. measuring larger than 6 ft. x 4 ft. x 4 ft. classify as oversized. Pre-notification is also required.
• Contain brush to one pile, not scattered in multiple piles.
• Do not place any brush, grass or yard waste on the street, in gutters or ditches.
• Rocks, bricks, concrete, landscape blocks, etc. will not be removed.
Yard waste:
• Leaves, grass, sticks, gumballs, yard and garden waste, etc. will be collected only if bagged in biodegradable leaf bags or placed in containers. (Leaf bags are in the works)
• Loose debris will not be removed.
• Keep bags and containers in back of the curb, off the street and out of ditches.
Exceptions:
• Disposal of brush, limbs, landscape material, etc. generated by a contractor is the contractor’s responsibility.
• Brush from storm damage will be removed as time permits for up to one week, if placed near the street or alley.
• Loose leaves will be vacuumed in the fall as weather permits. Schedule will be published.
All city residents have access to the city’s brush pile weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. located at 402 SE 8th St, this is located East of the Park on Monroe St - behind our Utility Building. *Marked with a red star below
