City of Casey issued the following announcement on Jan. 30.
The City of Casey is proud to own and operate its own municipal system. We are a non-profit public power community governed by our city council, with the goal of providing reliable, low-cost power to our community. It is unfortunate that this marketing piece has caused such confusion.
Arcadia is more of a "supply broker" than an alternative retail electric provider. Regardless, this does not change the fact that this entity is essentially reselling electricity which is not allowed under state law in municipal utility service territories.
The City of Casey has exclusive right to serve; therefore, there is no need for a broker of energy supply if there is no option for alternative energy suppliers.
